Woods Day Care/Pre-School

Welcome!

Our state-of-the-art, six classroom facility was opened in May 2002. We provide a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for many children of the Wabash Valley, including Vigo, Parke and Vermillion Counties in Indiana and Edgar County in Illinois.

Classroom shelves are filled with innovative toys, games, art & craft supplies, math and science manipulatives, musical instruments and more. These, and other teaching materials, provide the six certified teachers and 17 teachers’ aides with the proper tools needed for a top-quality pre-school program. A total of 31 paid employees and six Sisters of Providence volunteers provide a nurturing environment for young children with developing minds and bodies.

The Atrium remains a popular part of the facility. Children enjoy the freedom to run, play, jump, stretch and climb in this gymnasium playroom. Other play zones in the Atrium include the beauty salon, playhouse, and general store. In good weather and bad, all of our children love spending time there.

Two 10’ x 20’ roll-out canvas awnings have been installed on the west side of the building. This allows children to enjoy the fresh outdoor air without constant exposure to the sun. Two spring-mate plastic riding animals were added here also. On the east side playground, a geo-dome and a wave-rider were recently added. State approved plastic border timbers surround the play equipment. Wood carpet chips were replenished in all play areas. All playground improvements were made possible by a grant from the Family Social Services Administration, from the State of Indiana, and several matching donors and grant makers.

The six-passenger red buggies are still a delight to the little ones. Whether traveling up and down the interior hallway, or traversing across campus, they have proven to be a wise investment.
